Which Character from the Tales of Tarza Series is your Favorite?

Hello riders. I am sitting around the fire, waiting for you to join me. There is roasted rabbit and some carrots sitting in a pot on the rack and I’m eager to share a conversation with you. Today I am asking you all the have read the first two books in my Tales of Tarza series, which character is your favorite?

Not talking... okay I’ll share mine instead.

I would have to say that my favorite character is the one that dive-bombs my mind most of the time and that is Kero from Masquerade Assassin. She is not your average princess; and has a forceful personality and loves breaking the rules. This girl has been taking over my mind for the last ten years but I just now got to write her into one of my books.

I’m planning an entire series around her in novel form, but I have to figure out how to deal with my fear of doing such a project. It has been sitting on my to-do list for the last ten years. The book develops more each year but I find I’m scared to write something so long and mess it up. But I think I will take it one step at a time.

What are 3 reasons you fell in love with Kero?

1. She isn’t your girly-girl type and takes charge.

2. Kero has a tendency to care about others and will fight to the death to protect those she loves.

3. Super excited with her personality it is so fun and deadly

Things are Progressing Slow and Steady!

 

Hello riders. Things have been progressing slower of late with my Kickstarter Campaign for Tales of Ferrês. These last two weeks I managed to get up to 83 followers. I was hoping to hit 100 fast but it seems to be lagging right now. If you could share it around with your family and friends that would be a great help.

Right now I am waiting on the tweaked files for the covers for both the paperback and hardcover from Grady. He just got done moving state lines so he is a bit behind on projects at the moment. But I plan to order new proofs when I get the updated files to make sure everything looks great for when I order them for the backers.

I did make the decision to do rewrites on all the stories. My writing style has changed quiet a bit since 2018 when I published the first story. Then I will get them re-edited by Michelle Hoffman over at Michelle Edits. She usually does a fast turn around so I should have to wait to long for the stories to come back to finalize. At this time I have finished "A Father's Protection," and it is with Michelle. I plan to work on "An Elf, a Dragon, and a God's Intervention" next. The plan is to work on it throughout the next two weeks and finish it in a timely manner. 

At this time I am aiming to launch my Kickstarter on August 11th, but if I don't have my goal of 100 followers then I will hold off until I get the 100 followers I want.

Seth thought God was dead...but ideas tend to linger. 

A day in your writing life.

My writing routine has evolved over the years. I used to change my writing location every day, throughout intervals of new cafes, picnic benches in various parks, and even hiking up a mountain to write a chapter at its summit. I found the change in scenery helped keep my creativity flowing, keep things from getting stale. Which it does, so I’d recommend this sporadic routine to any new writers struggling to get their stories drafted.

But now, after having been a writer for upward of a decade, my routine has been refined. No longer do I need to change my location. I still enjoy a café and always will, but I have no issue these days just sitting down and writing. So, here is what my current routine entails:

Upon awaking up next to my partner, who’s still asleep, much to my envy, I groggily leave bed and enter the kitchen. Brewing coffee, feeding and walking our dog, then spending an hour gradually awaking to my warm, caffeinated drink. Then, I make breakfast for the two of us and bring it into our home library where by then my partner is now awake and clocked into her remote job. Sitting at her desk in the corner, mere inches from mine. Some may think this would be distracting, but I find it peaceful, sitting there next to the love of my life, going about my business and she, hers—and as we do, I put on my headphones to listen to purely instrumental music (songs with lyrics tends to distract from my words) and begin typing. For the next 4-6 hours, with a lunch break between, I’m writing, word after word until reaching my daily goal. My standard is as such: 1000 words is fine but not a great day. 1500 words is a good day, but I can do better. 2000 words is a successful, great day. Anything more than that is just *chef’s kiss*. As stated above, I rarely change things up anymore, and am grounded in this routine, for which I am grateful. While the sporadic location changes in my early writing years and the still figuring it all out was fulfilling, with age I am happy to streamline my life in any way I can. I’m fortunate not to experience writer’s block, being able to simply sit down, and let it flow.
