Then he stopped. He was going to ask why she would believe something so heinous, so stereotypical and cynical. Then he remembered what she had told him last night. She never grew up with a father, and if he could take a wild guess, he would have said that her mother planted those ideas in her head. No man could be trusted. A woman should rely on herself and no one else. Erica’s entire childhood would have been one jaded, dysfunctional mess, and this was the kind of baggage she carried into adulthood.

The mating bond was there and he knew everything out of her mouth was forced. She might have believed what she said, but her heart wasn’t in her accusations. What is your favorite part of Fragments and Reflections, and why?

Shannon: It’s so hard to choose! OK, for Fragments, it’s when Navaryn is experiencing the effects of the Utsirri spell in the form of a nightmare. It’s haunting to experience such a nefarious action—ruining the foundation of what makes a person who they are: their memories. For Reflections, I’d have to choose the fight scene between Navaryn and Von in the chapter Reflection—to experience what it’s like to question why you are supposed to hate someone for reasons imposed on you. To see through your own eyes and begin to ask yourself the right questions.

Edward: That’s a very tough one for me as well. For Fragments, I’d have to say the chapter “The Key.” I love how we take a well-rounded look at how when characters from rivaling worlds become allies to ultimately work toward their common goal, they end up reaching understandings, and are able to move past their notions of being sworn enemies. It speaks to how hatred and division can hinder and blind us from what is true. For Reflections, it’d maybe be the chapter, “The Suffering.” It’s a heavy chapter that, from a writing standpoint, challenged me to dive deep and evoke a sense of dread, pain and despair. It’s also one of the longer chapters in the book, in which we intentionally took the artistic liberty of conveying a feeling that the pain won’t end.

If you could spend time with a character from your book, who would it be? And what would you do during that day?

Shannon: I’d like the opportunity to do this with more than one character. But my first choice would be Claymar. I’m going with him to a farmers market to eat all the things and joke around all day.

Edward: I’d love to hang out with Von. I feel that his aura is fairly similar to mine, for one thing. He’s also very intelligent, inquisitive, is a musician, and a bit of a wine connoisseur. I imagine we’d have a good time having wine-induced philosophical discussions while playing music and eating all the food.

  

Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?

Edward: I feel it’s a little of both, depending on what’s going on. I feel like if our characters could talk to us, they’d give us a lot of grief for putting them through so much. But, at the same time, we’re the ones with the keyboard, so they’re going to do what we tell them to do whether they like it or not. You could imagine the stack of HR complaints we would get.

If your book had a candle, what scent would it be?

Shannon: We actually create an immersive reading experience with scented accompaniments! Each book in our main series arc has three accompaniments, one being a candle. The candles are created in collaboration with the amazing Firelight Fables, and is inspired by a part of the book, rather than the whole thing and I’ll give a breakdown of the both of them:

Delavine Crystal: Inspired by Chapter 8 in Fragments, called The Kiss. Scent notes: Pink Quartz and Nag Champa. The Delavine Crystal is a mystical crystal you come to learn about pretty quickly within the read, and allows one sight into different worlds.

Willow of the Wanderer: Inspired by Chapter 10 in Reflections, called The Snag. Scent notes: Black Cypress, Pine and Cassis. The Willow of the Wanderer is a special willow tree in the eastern forests of Daeva and is considered a sacred tree by the Dhimara clan.

Shannon is an urban gardener and an avid seed collector. Who is your Favorite Character from Tales of Ferrês?

Greetings riders and fare folk. I have been asked which character is mine from the Tales of Ferrês series and I am here to answer it. It is a hard choice because their are so many characters to pick from. But I would have to say that my top favorite would have to be DarkDeath. 

He shows up in the stories several times throughout the series and he is influential in the world itself. Plus he is like a big wolf dad that you want to just cuddle with in your free time. 

Why is DarkDeath my favorite? 3 Reasons:

1. I love his name and how he depicts his personality. He is a strong alpha dad and mate for SnowFire. DarkDeath doesn't sit down and let others take control of what is his and he protects those that he loves. I plan to include him in the novel series when I get ready to write it. I am still stuck on how to write a full length Epic Fantasy Novel without making it to short.

2. I love wolves. Plus I have a thing for strong dominant males that are soft a cuddly on the inside. He shows his soft side sometimes but is usually mr. stern face most the time. 

3. I also love how he is loyal to those he loves and protects. Plus who doesn't love a shifter that can shift into a humanoid form and still look deadly. I actually created DarkDeath to resemble Koga off of Inuyasha. 

When I created the kyres I started off with creating them around Mercedes Lackey's wolf that Tarma befriends in her series. Then I mixed it with the wolf demon concept from Inuyasha. The only difference is they can fully shift from animal to humanoid form. They still have animal features like the ears, tail, and claws, but they are creatures fully made up of magic.

Tales of Ferrês Kickstarter Update: What is coming in the mail?

Hi readers. Today I am dropping an update on my Kickstarter as it is going so far. Right now I am sitting at 60 Followers. Trying to get to 100 before August 11th. If you would share it around that would be great, or even follow the campaign by clicking NOTIFY ME ON LAUNCH if you are interested in getting special anniversary editions of my Tales of Ferrês bundle book. 

I re-did my pre-launch page last week. It looks even prettier now that I got all the graphic updates with the sprayed edges and additional ones that depict the book perfectly. Head over to check it out to see if you find it as special as I do. 

I started working on the story part of my launch page when it goes live. Not even halfway done with it yet but I am getting there. This way, if I hit 100 followers before August I am ready to go if I want to launch it sooner.

Not sure when my proofs are going to come in the mail with the sprayed edges and foiled covers. Hoping it will be before the next update. That way I can show you a video of the final product. But you will have to access the video from my pre-launch page over on Kickstarter. Sorry but I can’t give everything away without getting you to join the fun.

As for the next two weeks, I plan to do more Kickstarter Swaps with like-minded authors and work on Filthas Dengotta’s story so it is ready for when I hit 75 followers. Yeah, I created a reward tier system on my pre-launch page. I also plan to showcase one of the character cards I plan to offer with specific tiers in the Kickstarter when I hit 75 followers.
