"Sunfire & Steel," by: Lauren O'Brien — Now Live on Kickstarter!

Hello riders and readers. It's November and today I am featuring quite a few Kickstarter Spotlights. But that is to be expected since I fell behind on Friday with getting ready for Trick or Treating and Trunk or Treats here in Sioux City, Iowa. My son had a blast and we even went to a comic book store event where he got some free comics. But anyway that is why I am doing more posts on Saturday and Sunday this week. But without further a due I would like you to check out "Sunfire & Steel," by: Lauren O'Brien. She created a medieval romance fantasy that you will die to get your hands on and plenty of chibi horses to adore. Make sure to check out her story page over on Kickstarter to check out all the details about the special editions along with book details. Happy reading everyone :).

****

Sunfire and Steel is an upcoming medieval-inspired romantic fantasy novel and the first book in my new Hearts of Sworn Devotion series.

You'll love Sunfire & Steel if you enjoy:

A Knights Tale
Lady Knights
Fake Dating
Low Spice (One spicy scene)
Strong Female Friendships
Political Intrigue

Lady Melione is her family’s precious only child, expected to devote her life to continuing the family's legacy. While one day she wants a family of her own, Melione’s heart lies in the stables, much to her parents’ chagrin.

Alaric Sinclair has dedicated his life to being a protector. Once a celebrated knight who fought in the Great Witch War, Alaric’s future was shattered by a near-fatal jousting accident which forced him to abandon the life he fought for.

When Melione’s parents threaten to take away the only life she has ever wanted, she’s desperate to prove herself. When she learns Alaric’s not as perfect as he pretends to be, she blackmails her family friend into training her to become a champion.

Alaric knows what the joust can take from a person. As grueling training turns into stolen moments and an attraction neither are ready to acknowledge, he finds himself teaching Melione to burn brighter than she ever thought possible. In helping Melione fight for the life she wants, will Alaric finally find the courage to choose his own?

Beginning of the Month Check-In: November Edition!

November Check-In!

Hello riders and readers. Today I bring to you my monthly check-in. What is this post about you wonder? Well, it is where I am going to write down my writing goals for the month. Then I plan to look back at the end to see if I accomplish them all. Hopefully doing this will keep me in check from now on and help me show myself that I can make progress if I work at it hard enough.

November Writing Goals:

Word Goal: 5k to 10k words written. (Don't care which project)

The next three months I have to do some serious work on my Tales of Ferrês series. This means my 10 stories are all getting re-writes. Some might have new parts included or endings changed. But I plan to keep the overall themes of the stories the same. I already got "A Father's Protection" done. So that leaves 9 stories to work on. This month I plan to work on 3 different ones. They are:

1. An Elf, a Dragon, and a God's Intervention
2. Bonds of Friendship
3. The Assassin's Prophecy

Hopefully I can finish these three stories before the end of the month that way I can move onto the next three in December. If I keep this flow for the month and maybe even work more stories into the margins then I can get these updated in my Kickstarter Special Editions and get shipping done sooner on the backer orders.

Personal Goals:

There is a long list of things to do around the house. The major one is raking up all the leaves that dropped over the weekend because of the cold weather. It seems like Fall has officially come and my yard is a mess. Not only that but I have to finish putting together Ben's Father's Day gift. It was a grill that we never put the guts inside. We planned to have it together by the end of Summer but it didn't happen. We were always running around doing something.

Not only those two things but I have to go through my shed in our yard. The boys and Ben managed to make it look like a cyclone hit it. And I need to get my crates out that have my old books in it to move to the U-haul shed unit that I am renting with my mom. This way my books are being exposed to the weather.

Things that have Changed since October:

This October was hectic. I had my first Kickstarter going for my Tales of Ferrês Special Anniversary Editions. Then I had to deal with Zayne moving down to stay with his Aunt Kelsey for the school year. It wasn't something we planned, it was required because Zayne was having behavior problems and Ben and Zeek were triggering him to much. His destructive behavior was two dangerous for all 3 of them to be around each other.

Not only that I have been taking Zeek to Trunk or Treats all month. Then we ended up with a kitten joining our family after going to the Humane Society's Trick or Treat event. We named the kitten Raya and she has been fun having around the house. Teddy likes her but doesn't understand how to play with her just yet.

Ben got done with Speech Therapy last week and only has a few more sessions of OT therapy left. This month he gets to take his driving test to see if he can be cleared to drive again. Hopefully fingers cross he passes.

Not much else has been going on this last month and I am super excited for November to be here. Mainly, because then I can have some breathing room. I'm tired of always running ragged around the house, around town, and never getting a moment to do something that isn't about someone else's needs.

Conclusion:

In conclusion things are dying down. But my writing is heating up. I hope you will pray for me and keep on me as I work through these goals this month. I will be back with you throughout the month. I will try to stay on schedule with the blog's posts and touch base with you all soon.

Wish me luck.

Now Live on Kickstarter!

Judy & The Cardboard Cutie
Magical Romcom Deluxe Hardcover
by: Laura Detering

Slow-burn, kisses-only, sweet romance with cursed hero, enchanted theater vibes. Foiled cover, sprayed edges, & custom art.

****

🎞️Welcome to The Emerald, where Judy’s beloved family theater is weeks away from being sold—and the cardboard cutout she accidentally wins might be the only thing standing between her and losing everything.

🍿A sweet magical romcom with a jaded movie star, a determined theater owner, and a slow-burn romance with nothing steamier than buttered popcorn.

✨Mannequin meets Beauty and the Beast with cozy small-town magic, an enchanted Art Deco theater, and a love story that only comes alive after dark.

❤️If you love kisses-only romance, cursed heroes, forced proximity, laugh-out-loud banter, old movie magic, and happily-ever-afters that feel impossible until they aren’t, then Judy & The Cardboard Cutie was written for you.

Falling in love with a cardboard cutout never felt so real.

Judy Darlang has one summer to save her family's beloved Art Deco movie theater before it's demolished to make way for a big-box store. With her mother's health failing and The Emerald's future hanging by a thread, she'll do whatever it takes to save the place that's always felt like home.

Then she wins a life-size cardboard cutout of missing Hollywood heartthrob Weston Wilder and gets the shock of a lifetime when he turns out to be far more than cardboard.

Suddenly, Judy and Weston are swept into a magical mystery neither of them can explain. Bound by a curse tying Weston to the theater, they'll have to save The Emerald, uncover the truth, and outrun a growing media frenzy before time runs out.

They may both be used to the movie magic of scripted romance, but as they get closer to breaking the curse, the feelings growing between them are anything but scripted.
