It's the last night of pledge week at Anne Hutchinson University, and Lavinia remains one of the few students unchosen by a patron goddess.

Lavinia desperately wants to be chosen by a mentor. Not only will it mean receiving a patroness, but also space to live in a Goddess House, and house sisters. 

But anyone remaining unchosen will become an Orphan of the Goddesses ... at a school where divine patronage is everything. 

Little does Lavinia know, the last night of pledge week is tilting in an unexpected direction, with hair-raising results that will cast Lavinia uncomfortably in the spotlight, challenging the way the university runs on one of its most fundamental levels.

When Lavinia's pledge night doesn't go to plan, it creates unique complications. 

Even the Oracle isn't sure what will happen next.
